Study one artist a week and post to the blog. Include research and also my own artistic interpretations of their work.
Sit down for an hour a day to 'play' away from the screens. Whether this be writing, collage, spray painting, sketching, furniture design, lighting design, or just staring off into blank space. Sit down, and allow your mind to wander.
Be okay with sharing individual pieces that don't always fit your overall image. Be okay with putting yourself and your artwork out there. I see this blog as a way to explore a multitude of ideas and a place of reflection to look back at my work.
Get a calendar and 'X' off that days that you hit your goals. Before you know it, you'll have a new habit. On a side note of goals. At the start of the new year I started a cold plunge challenge to jump into the ocean everyday for 30 days (water temps 30-40 degrees and air temps 15-40). I've grown to love this new habit and routine. It's something I look forward to everyday as a way to challenge myself and push myself mentally and physically. Plus, I've got a great group of friends who also join for the plunge. And as of today, I'm on day 72 in a row of cold plunging. I've grown as a 'cold plunger'. At the start I could only stay in the water for less than one minute. Now, I'm at ease in the water and have come to love and crave the feeling and stay in for around 7min. Anyway, the reason for this tangent is that at the start cold plunging was tough because it took time out of my day and it was painful and uncomfortable. Somedays I didn't want to go, but I had the support of my friends to help get my out there. Now, after forming a new habit I have the will power and eagerness to get into the water no matter what everyday. I'd like to take this experience and see if I can translate it to other aspects in my life...specifically to art. Can I make art a daily habit? Can I make it something I crave and need everyday? Forming a new habit can be tough, so at the start I'll set up tools to help hold me accountable. A few ideas: calendar, blog, set up zoom art parties, perhaps some other artist would like to join me in my challenge, and write down ideas.
Art Ideas I'd like to explore:
Embedding 3D virtual tours into websites
Running blog with 360 camera with a map that follow the video
Photojournalism - follow different people at their jobs
